Royal University of Bhutan Hosts the Annual Faculty Meet 2026: “A Hundred Ideas Summit” at College of Science and Technology

The Royal University of Bhutan is hosting the Annual Faculty Meet 2026 at the College of Science and Technology in Phuentsholing, bringing together around 500 faculty members from all eleven colleges under the theme A Hundred Ideas Summit.” The three-day event serves as a vibrant platform for collaboration, dialogue, and innovation aimed at strengthening the University’s academic mission and institutional growth.

The Meet begins with an opening ceremony and keynote address by the Vice Chancellor titled “RUB at the Frontier: Leadership, Excellence, and Ideas for a New Era,” highlighting the importance of purposeful leadership and academic excellence in supporting national transformation. Faculty members are organized into 100 inter-college groups, each tasked with developing a transformative idea for the University. The first day also features a fireside chat on faculty motivation, well-being, and academic culture, followed by an engaging Educational Relay Race that encourages teamwork and camaraderie.

On the second day, participants work intensively to develop and refine their proposals. The day begins with an energising Zumba session, followed by collaborative discussions where groups expand their ideas into structured proposals, identifying benefits, implementation strategies, and potential challenges. A World Café session provides an opportunity for groups to exchange ideas and receive feedback. The day concludes with an Open Mic Night, where faculty members showcase talents in poetry, music, storytelling, and humour, strengthening connections among participants. 🎤🎶

The final day focuses on the presentation and recognition of innovative ideas. Following a guided meditation session and final preparations, groups present their proposals during Elevator Pitch Rounds, from which 16 ideas are shortlisted for the Grand Finale. During the closing plenary, the Top Five Outstanding Ideas are selected by a panel of judges. The first prize is awarded to the proposal for e-WAMIS (Workload Allocation and Management Information System), a web-based system designed to enhance professionalism, accountability, and effective human resource management within the University.

The Annual Faculty Meet 2026 concludes with a Recognition Ceremony, closing dinner, andentertainment programme, celebrating the collective creativity, dedication, and commitment of faculty members toward shaping the future of the University.
