Empowering Future Engineers through the SQUARES Project at CST
The College of Science and Technology (CST) successfully conducted student training programmes under the SQUARES Project, Sustainability and Quality Assurance for Academic Governance and Redesign of Engineering Studies, as part of Work Package 7.
Led by Project Coordinator Dr. Tashi, the programme aimed to strengthen students’ practical knowledge and exposure to emerging engineering challenges and sustainable technologies. A total of 151 undergraduate engineering students from Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering programmes participated in the training sessions during May 2026.
The sessions were delivered by CST faculty members Karma Tempa, Sonam Chuki, Namgay Tenzin, Namgay Om, and Leki Dorji through interactive lectures and hands-on BYOD learning activities.
The training covered the following key areas:
- Energy Efficiency and Resource Audits
- Renewable Energy Technologies
- Smart Transportation and Traffic Systems
- Sustainable Engineering and Smart Cities
The programme provided students with valuable insights into real-world engineering applications, sustainability practices, and innovative technologies that are shaping the future of engineering and infrastructure development.
The SQUARES Project continues to play an important role in enhancing quality engineering education, strengthening international collaboration, and preparing graduates with industry-relevant competencies for the future workforce.
The SQUARES Project team extends sincere appreciation to all trainers and participating students for making the programme a success.
