The Master of Science in Engineering by Research (MSc. Eng) programme aims to provide advanced, research-focused education that equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to address complex engineering challenges and contribute to Bhutan’s socio-economic development goals. It seeks to develop innovative professionals with strong problem-solving abilities, creativity, and advanced technical expertise across various engineering and related fields. Graduates of the programme are expected to pursue careers in both public and private sectors, within Bhutan and internationally, and to make meaningful contributions to research, policy, and practical solutions.

Entrance Requirements

A candidate will be eligible for admission to the programme upon fulfilling the following:

  • Must have completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • International applicants must provide a valid International English Language Testing System (IELTS) certificate with an overall band score of 5.5 or an equivalent score from a recognised English proficiency test. Alternatively, the college may administer its own English proficiency assessment to evaluate the applicant’s language competence. This requirement does not apply to applicants whose native language is English.
  • Candidates must obtain a minimum overall aggregate of 50 % across the selection criteria, comprising an oral interview, statement of research intent and undergraduate academic marks. Further, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 50% in the oral interview and the written statement of research intent.
  • The selection process will be administered by the Office of the Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages.

 

24 months Course (Mixed Mode of Study: 6 months on-campus and 18 months off-campus)
