Capacity Building Workshop in Planning, Design, and Monitoring

The College of Science and Technology has successfully conducted a five day Capacity Building Workshop in Planning, Design, and Monitoring from 8 to 12 December 2025 in collaboration with Sustainable and Resilient Building Division (SRBD), Department of Human Settlement (DHS), Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MoIT).  The workshop brought together around 80 participants including Architects, Urban Planner, Engineers and Building Inspectors. The sessions were facilitated by experts from DHS, MoIT lead by Mr. Bishnu Pradhan, Chief Engineer, SRBD covering on National Design Codes, Bhutan Building Regulation, Construction Quality Compliance Mechanism (CQCM), Spatial Planning Frameworks, Residential Condominium Rules, the National Housing Bill, Inclusive and Sustainable Building Practices, Earthquake and Windstorm Resilient Construction Techniques, and post-earthquake safety evaluation tools such as ATC-20-1 Bhutan.  This capacity building initiative not only strengthens the professional competencies of participants but also enables them to understand and emphasize the critical importance of designing and implementing sustainable, safe, and resilient built environments.
