Background

Bhutan has been a source of inspiration for Nations around the world for Gross National Happiness, a new development paradigm. For Bhutanese, GNH has been a way of life manifested in our values as an individual, within family, at workplace, in the society and beyond. The construction sector plays a part in promoting GNH through the infrastructure development activities.

The CDCL in collaboration with the College of Science and Technology (CST), Royal University of Bhutan, will be organizing the Second Construction Seminar on the theme “Emerging Trends in the Construction Industry” on 29th and 30th August 2019 (re-scheduled) in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
The objective of the Seminar is to create awareness and address issues pertaining to policy and practical aspects in the constructor sector. We encourage papers on the emerging issues on the hard-core engineering aspects as well as from related perspectives including contract management, OHS, EIA and EMP.

The selected papers have been categorized under following topics:
  1. Construction Management;
  2. Occupational Health and Safety;
  3. Environment Impact Assessment and Environment Management Plan;
  4. Surface Construction; and
  5. Underground Construction works.
Objectives

The objective of the Seminar is to create awareness on the pertinent issues facing construction sector and exchange innovative ideas to bringing
improvements to the quality of construction sector including the policy reforms. The presenters will share findings of their research works on various
aspects of construction management to hardcore engineering aspects including infrastructure quality improvement methodologies.
