We are excited to share that a Civil Engineering research paper, which was part of the final-year project of one of our talented alumni (Batch of 2024) from the College of Science and Technology (CST), has been published in a leading journal!
The study focuses on the Development of a Fog Visibility Enhancement and Alert System using IoT, a key breakthrough aimed at improving road safety in challenging conditions
The system integrates advanced technologies:
Dark Channel Prior Algorithm – Enhances visibility by removing fog from live video feeds.
Time-of-Flight Sensors – Detect obstacles up to 15 meters ahead, triggering instant alerts in dense fog.
The researchers worked closely with the Phuentsholing and Thimphu traffic administration to understand real-world road challenges, ensuring practical and effective solutions.
This innovative research was led by Hari Prasad Acharja, Sonam Choki, Dorji Wangmo, Kazuhiro Muramatsu, and Nimesh Chettri. Their dedication, combined with valuable insights from traffic authorities, has resulted in a solution that could transform road safety.
